Get Clarity at PIVOT’s Mental Health Retreat for Men

A men’s mental health retreat offers a private place where you can be proactive about your mental health. Whether you feel like you’ve reached your breaking point or you’re just looking for some quiet time to reset, a retreat provides an opportunity for immersive focus. If things look dark or you need help, PIVOT has you covered.

At our Men’s Mental Health Retreat, you and five other men will spend five days and four nights at our picturesque Glass House Retreat Center, engaging with psychoeducational and experiential learning. In addition, each of you will participate in individual and group therapy sessions with your dedicated PIVOT coach.

Locally sourced, nutritious meals, restorative yoga, and meditation will fuel your bodies and minds as you share your experiences and connect with each other. You will also have plenty of time for quiet reflection as you work to align your thoughts, feelings, and actions for optimal balance and increased resiliency.

Keeps the Focus on You

Self-care is not just a buzzword. It’s a critical practice essential for your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Whenever you operate at a deficit,  you cannot show up as your best for the others in your life. Without adequate self-care, life’s stressors take their toll. A men’s mental health retreat holds space and allows you to look inward with intention and focus on your needs. This small investment of time spent nurturing your mental health will return to you in many aspects of your life.

Guests can expect the features listed below at all PIVOT retreats:

  • They employ the evidence-based PIVOT Process, a multi-faceted tool developed and refined over 15 years in a clinical setting.
  • Each stay is thoughtfully planned for a unique group of six participants.
  • Each participant works with a carefully matched coach to examine the psychology of their early development.
  • Participants revisit their inner child and inner teen before reintegrating as healthy adults who are capable of handling their many relationships and responsibilities with confidence.
  • The process helps you connect the physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and financial aspects of your life for greater clarity and resilience in the future.

After attending a  PIVOT retreat, you’ll return to your life with a new outlook on your relationship with yourself and enhanced preparatory skills for handling relationships with others.

Multiple Factors Impact Men’s Mental Health

Men’s lives are unquestionably fraught with challenges and emotional burdens. While no two are exactly alike, most men share at least some commonalities. Though not unique to men, these factors do put a collective strain on men’s lives, both in the short-term and over more extended periods of time.

Potential Influences on Men’s Mental Health

  • Responsibility. Responsibilities to themselves, family, community, and their employer drain time and energy reserves. Being a primary provider to children, aging parents, and others place greater demands on them, impacting their inner worlds and personal relationships.
  • Loneliness. Men want to be chosen and connected, but they have few spaces that are safe enough to be fully seen. They also struggle with feeling like they have to prove themselves to be worthy of being chosen, fearing they might not be good enough and then rejected and replaced.
  • Masking. Men often rely on things like strength and toughness to mask their pain. Traditional masculine traits may create a barrier from their need to process past trauma or receive gentleness, fearing that they will be seen as weak for desiring nurturing care.
  • Anger. Anger is often taught to be the only safe emotion for a man to express and it becomes their default setting. Anger is often a way to conceal more vulnerable emotions like sadness, insecurity, or fear, which could be perceived as burdensome and undesirable.
  • Shame. With a pressure to perform and be defined by achievement, they often feel like they fail to meet impossible standards and feel the weight of judgment from this. This often leads to self-sabotage and/or a loss of identity outside of what they do.
  • Deep love and emotions. The stereotype might be that men are slow to love, but when they do, they love and attach deeply to their partner. This experience is conflicting to them, as it creates tremendous vulnerability, which they’ve been taught to hide.
  • Being human. Men feel like they are meant to be protectors and providers, and are viewed as problems when they aren’t. Without the ability to safely experience the messiness that comes with being human, they struggle to show up authentically.

These are just a few of the daily stressors that accumulate and exert additional strain on you. Instead of waiting until emotional overload compromises your mental health, why not build up your strength and emotional reserves with practical tools and individualized support that are inherent in a retreat created just for you?

Come Full Circle at a Men’s Mental Health Retreat

Your mental health is primarily influenced by genetics (nature) and how you were raised (nurture). For this reason, childhood traumas and attachment wounds from early relationships wield tremendous influence throughout your life. They can impact key relationships and prevent you from experiencing your full potential.  While you cannot erase those early traumas or undo parenting mistakes, you will learn how and why they affect you so deeply.

With the proper support, you can change the way you relate to childhood traumas and eliminate their destructive power over you. A PIVOT Men’s Mental Health Retreat provides a focused opportunity to heal those early wounds and replace the unhealthy coping mechanisms that sabotage your attempts at happiness and fulfillment.

This reset puts the power back in your hands and gives you the tools to move forward more confidently and clearly. You’ll emerge as a healthier adult, in control, and ready to take on life’s challenges with renewed resolve. Armed with a toolbox of actionable strategies, you’ll be prepared to meet whatever lies ahead. The world already looks a lot brighter!
